Through the great mercy of God, it is my privilege to meet His beloved church at New Hope Hamilton Co., in sweet fellowship. Here was witnessed the ordinances of the Lord's house--baptism and the Lord's supper. Ever before public service, the faces of the dear brethren and sisters were lit up with the blessed image of Jesus. And after preaching, the whole place, with the trees and flowers, seemed full of the glory of God. Praise the Lord.

Preaching Saturday night at Bro. Henry  Fewell's house, by Eld's A. P. Koen and E. M. Weeks. The Lord was still in the place. After preaching, when one present was about to wash his feet and retire to rest, another brother desired to take a servant's place in washing them for him. There seemed to be a desire to wash one another's feet. Upon inquiry it was thought that the solemn duty of feet washing as a christian custom, is not confined to church meetings. Whereupon a number of brethren washed one another's feet.

As baptism represents our death to sin, and rising to walk in newness of life; so the solemn duty of feet-washing, seems to fitly represent humility and brotherly kindness, in forbearing one another in love, and in honor preferring one another and helping one another.

Dear brethren, "let brotherly love continue." Oh! brethren let us "not strive ;" but let us rather "praise the Lord for his goodness and mercy." "Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord."

During this meeting, two joined the church, by giving a reason of their hope and being baptized. The church observed our Lord's supper, showing forth his death. When I crushed the sacred emblem, I thought how my sins crushed and bruised the blessed body of Jesus broken for sin. When I took the wine, in agony of soul I thought how freely and submissively Jesus of Nazareth shed His blood to cleanse my sins. O how this picture of our Lord's suffering and death stirs my soul with grief and love, and with full purpose of heart, to turn from sin, which crushed my dear Saviour and pierced His bleeding side! O Lord, keep me from sin, that it may not grieve me."

Supper being ended, the solemn duty of feet-washing as a church rite, was observed. Dear brethren, let us observe this solemn duty literally as a religious rite; and let us also wash one another's feet spiritually, in humbly forgiving one another, confessing our wrongs, and helping one another to do right.

Dear Lord, lead us to know and to do thy will.

PB-Online and the Primitive Baptist Church do not recognize the ministry of "pastor" Fred Phelps, nor do we have fellowship with the Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kansas, which styles itself as an Old School (or Primitive) Baptist Church. We find the actions of these people to be deplorable and against the very Scriptures they claim to believe. Let it be firmly noted that the Primitive Baptists do not and will not endorse, condone or support the base actions of this group.
