Written by Moses Denman

Brother Yarbrough, though ninety years old, has fair strength of mind and body, and has been an Old School Baptist for thirty years. He was brought up under strict morals, but afterwards broke these early bands and went astray into vice. After delighting for a time in the fleeting pleasures of sin, he was turned from his wicked ways by the hand of God. He says that in the state of Mississippi while plowing and cursing his horse, the Lord enabled him to see the enormity of his sins, In his own words he then felt so vile, "Oh, so black a sinner justly condemned before God." This fear and troubled sense of guilt lasted about six months. During this time he often sought some secret place to pray, but found no relief. Sometimes he became careless, or else endeavored to put away all serious thoughts. He even tried to believe that there is no real christianity or salvation. But one good day while kneeling in prayer, our Lord filled his heart with hopeful confidence and love for God and His people. All trouble was gone, and joyous peace with God and peace with men made everything appear beautiful and lovely.

About twenty years after this change of heart and life, Brother Yarbrough joined the church, and soon went into the organization of Little Hope Church, Erath Co., Texas.

He now realizes that during all these years of his disobedience or refusal to come to the church did deprive him of a comfortable peace of mind or "The answer of a good conscience toward God."

Oh! poor humble believer obey your Savior's voice, "If ye love me keep my commandments."
