Beloved Brethren and Readers of the Trumpet :--I want to tell you of the abundant spiritual blessings God has bestowed on the churches around here of late. Surely His mercy endureth for ever.

During Bro. Casey's visit, [I believe he is referring to Elder C. H. Cayce—DM] I accompanied him to four of our churches. The brethren and sisters were comforted and spiritually renewed, and gave evidence of their benevolence and abundant liberality, by supplying our dear brother's purse. We should resist the proud whose lightness and self-important ways please the vanities of the carnal minded. But let us encourage, and as needful, give to the humble, whose godly fear and lowly ways please the Lord. Those whose hearts were stirred to give, usually gave one or more dollars--one brother I observed cheerfully gave ten dollars. All these were blessed to contribute in faith and spiritual love--a sweet incense unto the Lord. One was added to the church of my membership, and others are lingering outside the fold, hindered by Satan.

Surely brother Casey has come in demonstration of the Spirit, and the fullness of the gospel. Substantially, he has declared unto us what time is for--that time is for the accomplishment of the things which God purposed in eternity. He has proved by the scriptures, that God is the only eternal being, and man is the creature of God, lost and ruined by his own voluntary sins, and saved by the cleansing blood of Jesus; that preachers do not save with an eternal salvation, but God saves men by grace, not of works, through our Lord Jesus Christ. He has taught according to the scriptures, that in creation God did not breathe into Adam spiritual life, but God breathed into him the breath of natural life; that before their creation, those chosen were as certainly foreseen, as if then present; that before their existence, yea before time, all the elect were comprehended by God's foreknowledge, and were given to the Son by covenant; that before time God purposed to save His people, and now in time He saves them according to that purpose.

Let us praise the Lord for these comforting truths. Bro. Casey, come and tell us again, of Jesus and His great salvation.
