Eld. J. G. Webb, Dear Brother in Christ :--For some time I have desired to tell you, with all the readers of your paper, how much I enjoy our dear Trumpet, which comes each week richly laden with soul-cheering and comforting words to the saints "that are scattered abroad." Sometimes I can hardly wait for another week to pass before I can get another paper; when I had finished reading our last week's issue I found myself wishing for the next number that I: might read it also. O, how starved do our souls feel when we are prevented so long from hearing the word preached in its purity

I was glad to read in our last Trumpet, from pen of a brother, "Meet oftener." Also another article, in favor of associations. It is a sweet comfort to meet the dear children of God, in a church capacity. And I have often wished for an association to last longer, especially when we see wanderers coming in home, and we feel' that there are yet others trembling to come into the fold, If we can only meet one little child of God and talk of what the Saviour has done for us, how cheering! Not long since I felt like I would like so much to meet one of these little ones; yes, my heart burned within me to see and to hold sweet conversation with a follower of Jesus. It seems so long since I have had the sweet privilege of hearing a sermon from one of our ministering brethren.

My husband and I, with our family, moved last Dec., away from my home church (Cedar Grove), where my membership has been for over twenty-five years. Dear old Cedar Grove will ever live in my memory, no matter where my pathway shall lie. Although we live in McLennan Co., near Hebron church, I have not yet been permitted to attend meeting there, but I do hope to meet the saints there: very soon. Then beloved brethren, sisters and writers for the Trumpet, continue to send on the sweet messages of love and cheer the lonely ones, in mountains high, or valleys low, or yet, perhaps on some broad stretch of treeless prairie.

Dear friends, often after reading so many good pieces in the Trumpet, my heart goes out in love to you; though many of you I have never met, yet your writings are dear to me, and I feel like I want to give you my hand and hear you talk about Jesus and His love, and of that sweet hope in Jesus, which is an anchor to the soul both sure and steadfast; for when sorrow sweeps down over the soul and the dark clouds of doubt and fear hovers over us, songs in the night cheer us and we can sing:

Other refuge have I none,

Hangs my helpless soul on thee,

Leave, oh, leave me not alone,

Still support and comfort me.

Hope, O blessed hope! 'tis now that our mind runs back to the time when the light and love of Jesus first shown into our hearts and all was light and love, Within and without, and we were praising our dear Saviour. All nature too seemed to be filled with that love light and praising Jesus--the giver of all life and light divine.

Dear saints, When we can sing of our Saviour's love and feel his Sweet presence, we can never hope for a sweeter joy or more blissful state while on this earth, No, we could not ask a greater blessing, for surely such blessings are but fore-tastes of heaven.

O Lord, depart not far from Us nor hide thy loving face long from thy dear children, but put thy laws in their minds and write them in their hearts. And give sweet seasons of thy joyful presence often to the little weak ones and enable us to lean on thee for strength.

Dear brethren and sisters, may we all live nearer Jesus; may He give us more grace, more faith, more love to one another and to God. Oh, that we may let our light so shine that others maybe constrained to take up their cross and follow the meek and lowly Jesus!

Bro. Webb, I have for a long time been desirous to hear you preach; also Bro. Biggs, and many others of the ministering brethren, whose writings I read.

Brother Webb, remember me when at a throne of grace. I feel desirous of the prayers of all the saints.

Your unworthy sister in hope of eternal life,

CALLIE (DENMAN) MCGEHEE,
McGreger, Tex.
