Beloved Brethren : -- While the few days of life shall last, I want you all to know I dearly love you for the truth's sake, or the image of Jesus you bear. Oh! may our forgiving heavenly Husband bless you and your families forever. May God Almighty deliver you from every unscriptural doctrine, and cause you to turn away from all sin and to rejoice in all truth. Beloved, I know something of your joys and sorrows, and feel to rejoice and weep with you. I rejoice with you for the love of God shed abroad in your heart by the Holy Ghost; and my soul goes out in mournful sympathy for you who have deep and bitter grief. May God give you grace to meekly endure the chastening he sends on you without a murmur for Jesus' sake. And, dear brother or sister, I beg you to mortify your wrong deeds, and so, as much as lieth in you, correct the cause of your grief. Since all sin brings grief, I beseech you all that ye "sin not."

Let each one of you beware of the first temptation. Let not your heart linger to entertain sinful thoughts or evil acts, and thereby increase them and invite their return. "Keep thyself pure," keep thy thoughts pure, keep thy eyes pure; keep thy tongue, thy hands, "thy heart with all diligence." Set no wicked thing before your eyes or mind; but rebuke sin and save yourself and others from its trouble. O, look not upon sin, but "shun all appearance of evil." Oh! poor, weak, tired and grieved ones, may the Lord give you strength every day to resist the devil, to "watch and to pray that ye enter not into temptation." My dear brethren, I feel thankful for the privilege of addressing you, but I long to be with you and talk to you of Jesus, and see your gentle faces aglow with his precious image. I want to see the Blessed image as it adorns your home life; I want to beg you, my dear brethren and sisters, to speak evil of no man; but forgive one another as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. Though so weak and unworthy to be under your roof, I want to hear you tell how Jesus daily leads you, and keeps you from sin that it may not grieve you. I need to be spiritually strengthened and encouraged by your godly conversation mingled with fear. I need your loving counsel, faithful instruction, and earnest prayers, to help me believe and do what is right; it is my soul's necessary food see how you do, and hear you tell the trials and conflicts of your christian warfare; and how, through Christ, you are enabled to overcome sin, rejoice in Christ Jesus and have no confidence in the flesh. Oh! brethren, "it is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed." May it be the faithful endeavor of my poor life to persuade you to avoid sin and pursue “holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord." May I be blessed to live for you, to rejoice and praise God with you in your homes and in the house of God.

And when life's work is done, I hope our vile body lain in the grave, will be raised spiritually like Jesus, and seated with you at his right hand in glory. There, unspeakable, rapturous thought, there in glory, clothed in the obedience and purity of Jesus, we shall dwell with him forever in the joyous fullness and sweetness of his life.

Dear brethren, read Jeremiah and Ezekiel; pray in your families and pray for me.

Your unworthy brother, saved I trust by the precious blood of Jesus.
