Beloved Brethren and kind Readers: --We would have to be equal with God to fully understand His ways. Being created by the Lord, we are inferior to Him, and so we cannot comprehend God only so far as He has revealed himself. Being weak and imperfect, we cannot perfectly "find out the Almighty" or any of His works. Yet we are liable to yield to carnality in trying to "find out the Almighty." In this way those holding Two-seedism claim that the devil is self-existent and eternal, the same as God; and that the elect whom they call "eternal children,'' had an eternal spiritual origin or existence in Christ. But God is "before all things," therefore He is the only eternal being. God has revealed Himself in the scriptures, as the "one that inhabiteth eternity." Isa. lvii. I5; Col. i. 17. This ETERNAL GOD, the only self-existent Being, is the Creator of "all things visible and invisible." Col. i. 16. Truly as has been well said, "God the Almighty Trinity, Father, Word and Spirit, the alone Eternal Self-existent Being, by an act of His sovereign will, 'created the heaven and the earth,' produced from non-existence the entire universe of matter and of mind. Gen. i. 1. Not one atom, not one spirit through all the infinity of space, but owes its origin to God." Hassell. Thus you see the church of Christ or true Old School Baptists, do not believe the Two-seed claim. That the new birth, the Spirit or life of Christ, becomes our new or "inner man,', and hence that we are as old as Christ, is to deny the Bible. Christ is our life, but the life is not the child. So our "inner man" or soul born of God or renewed by His Spirit, is not a part of God or an eternal child. No, for our soul as well as body is created. Gen. i. 27; Zec. xii. I. This soul being cleansed by the renewing work of the Holy Ghost, cannot sin because born of His "workmanship." Tit. iii. 5; I John iii. 9. Eph. ii. 10. No, this "inner man" or renewed soul does not sin, but it is at "war against" the flesh lusts. I Pet. ii. 11. So we do not believe that Christ or His life is the child or "new man" "saved by the renewing of the Holy Ghost." Neither do we believe that the elect in soul, body, or spirit, eternally existed in union with Christ. But we humbly reject every form of Two-seedism as opposed to salvation by grace. Our, spiritual and beloved Brother Hassell has well said, "God is the only Eternal Being revealed to us in the Scriptures. Gen. i, 1; Deut. xxxiii. 27; Isa. lvii. 15, Rom. i: 20; I Tim. i. I7 and vi. 16. Angels as well .as men and animals are His creature. Heb. i. 7; Col. i. 15; and all God's creatures were very good when He made them. When and where angels were created has not been revealed to us. I Tim. v. 21; II Pet. ii. 4; Jude vi. Our Lord speaks of them as the 'devil and his Angels.' Matt. xxiv. 41. We learn that pride was the condemnation of the devil. I Tim. iii. 6. Left to his own free will instead of worshiping he rebelled against the Son of God. Heli. 6; Matt. iv. 9. In the form of a serpent he tempted Eve. Gen. iii. 1; xiv. 15; and he is the prince of darkness (Eph. vi. 2;) the prince of the power of the air, (Eph. ii. 2,) who deceiveth the whole world, (Rev. xii.) is the everlasting enemy of Christ and His people as shown by his names satan (adversary) and devil (accuser) and as proven by all the scriptures; and he will finally be bruised under the feet of Christ and His Church, (Gen. iii. 15) cast into the bottomless pit (Rev. xx. 23,) and consigned to everlasting fire." Matt. xxv. 46. Yes, God is the only Eternal Being, and "all things visible and invisible, were created by Him." Col. i. 16: Hence the devil was subject to Jesus here on earth. So the devil and all his angels as well as all other creatures, men and angels, are subject to and dependent on the One that inhabiteth eternity” the Creator Sovereign Ruler of all things—the God of the entire universe. And Jesus our only Saviour in 'fulfillment' of His eternal Purpose and choice, now regenerates or sanctifies all the elect. He imputes to us His perfect obedience, keeps us from falling into unsound doctrine or practice, and leads us in paths of righteousness, and says we shall never perish. Oh, give all praise to our God as the only Eternal Being. "Give unto the Lord' the glory due unto Him." Yours in love, Sparta Tex. M.D. DENMAN.
