Written by Moses Denman

Beloved Brethren and Friends:--I know you will rejoice to hear from our last meeting at Cedar Grove church.

On "Lord's day" morning the little daughter of Bro. James Smith was baptized by Bro. Norman. Her purity of heart--the image of Jesus, adorned her face after baptism and at preaching. On Saturday, I could not be present till about the close of the service. In conference, our hearts were made to rejoice that my grandmother, Laura Denman, was blessed of the Lord to write an humble, loving and satisfactory letter to the church. In view of flying reports of our sister's belief on sanctification, and as some brother may speak of these reports unadvisedly, and so do wrong in being one "that taketh up a reproach," I will give the letter she sent to the church, that you may rejoice with us. Another letter was also read from her, but this expresses about the same. May the Lord abundantly bless our dear sister, with all the "holy brethren," for Jesus’ sake. M.D. DENMAN.

THE LETTER.

Dear Brethren:--As I can't be at meeting, I feel like I want to express my love to you all as the true church of Christ. But I am imperfect at best, and want you to forgive my wrongs. While I read the Scriptures more than in the past, I do not read God's Word as much as I should. And as my mind is often beclouded on the mysteries of the Bible, I have done wrong in sometimes making hasty expressions on sanctification. I don't feel like I have done wrong by believing in sanctification, for if I know my heart I believe in sanctification as taught in the Bible and preached by Primitive Baptists. If I have done or said any thing that has hurt any of your feelings I hope you will forgive me and that the Lord will forgive me, for I don't mean to do anything wrong. Dear brethren and sisters, I don't believe in sinless perfection; but it seems to me as I think it does to you, that the more, holy we live--the more we obey our dear Saviour--the more we will enjoy His sanctifying grace, and feel in our hearts His sweet: and comforting presence. I want to say like Paul, "I have fought a good fight, I have kept the faith."

Pray for me that the Lord may guard me, and that His hand may lead me.

Your sister in much love.

Belton, Tex.          L.A. DENMAN.

The church freely forgave Sister Denman as requested and agreed to inform her of the same. We most heartily commend our dear Sister Denman for her humble, Christ like course in "Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace." Thus we save one another, This is the way to "be of one mind," live in peace, and to enjoy the sweet promise' "The God of love and peace shall be with you." Col: xiii. 11.

May God bless you all, "make you perfect in every good work," and keep the church in peace for Jesus' sake.

M.D. DENMAN.
