As some are misled by the "Christian Science" or "Sinless Perfection" delusion, I desire as a little child to humbly submit a few thoughts, trusting that the Lord may lead us all in the way of truth. The heathen philosophers of long ago held that the soul is uncreated, "infinite," or divine. By "evil communication" the early professors of christianity were corrupted by these mystical inventions of men, thought to be wise. Likewise the "Christian Science" and "Two Seed Philosophy" of our day teach that man's spirit is uncreated, "infinite, or a part of the Deity--that our "soul or spirit came directly from God." Shame! Since such vain notions as the above are not taught in the Scriptures, it is sad that some professed lovers of Jesus reject Him and His truth, and follow heathen philosophers. Let us not thus forsake our Lord. Rather let us sit at the feet of Jesus and learn of Him. Jesus says, "Fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." Matt. x. 28. Since God is the only uncreated, "infinite" being, none should dare claim that the uncreated or "infinite" may be destroyed in whole or in part, or cast into everlasting fire prepared for God's sinful creatures. Matt: xxv. 41-46. "The wicked shall be turned into hell with all the nations that forget God." Ps. ix. 17. The Bible teaches us that man composed of Spirit, soul and body, was created Gen. i. 27. So God created the entire man—soul, body and spirit, Spirit, we are the "offspring" or "workmanship" of God. Eph. ii. 10. Acts xvii. 29--that is, we have sprung from Him as our Maker. In this sense we learn from the "inspired Word" that our entire natural and spiritual existence came from God's creative hand. Now contrast truth and error: The “doctrines of men" teach that our spirit is "Infinite" uncreated or a part of God, that our "soul or spirit came directly from God.” The Bible teaches that "God made our souls, or formed the Spirit of man within him." Isa. lvii.16; Zec. xii. 1 The above Scriptures plainly affirm that God made the soul or spirit, and elsewhere that He "gave it." God also gave the breath of natural life, and all things we enjoy. He has given us a natural body subject to death. He has given us an undying soul or spirit. Hence every part of our bodies and spiritual nature or make up, is a gift from God, created by Him and saved by His grace. Finally when this natural body shall be renewed and raised spiritual, then God will have given us a spiritual body united with our renewed spirit. Thus renewed in soul and body, cleansed or made sinlessly pure by the blood or imputed obedience of Jesus, we shall dwell forever with our Saviour in heaven. Oh my friends, "what shall it profit a man if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?" Mark viii. 36. We can do or give nothing to save our souls. "With man this is impossible.” "By grace ye are saved, not of yourselves it is the gift of God.” "My soul doth magnify the Lord and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour." M. D. DENMAN.
